We are launching two ukulele events at the site of our first Uke Fest, 88 Cups in Minden, Nevada!
1) Tuesday evening, April 19: Uke Nights in Minden! This will be a regular social get-together-and-uke for you Southern – Northern Nevada’ers (and those passing through) for whom the Reno Uke Nights are too far a drive. Same general thing, strumming and singing simple songs and lots of help for beginners. Free beginner lessons from 6-6:30 p.m., mass uke musical chaos to follow from 6:30-8. We’ll poll those who show up to determine whether you all want to make this a monthly or every two weeks affair.
Please note: 88 Cups normally closes at 7 p.m. on weeknights. They have graciously agreed to work an extra hour just for us. So it would be nice if several of us showed our thanks by purchasing a cup of tea or a goodie. (Or a beer or glass of wine!) They also make great sandwiches and hors d’oeuvres if you want to eat dinner before the night begins!
2) Saturday evening, April 30: Ukes in Concert! This will be actual performances by regional ukesters! Saturday is always Live Music Night at 88 Cups and we’ve finally pried an evening away from the 6 and 11 stringers! (There’s a really good Oud player who’s a regular there… 11 strings!) If I can get enough players involved, we hope to make this a monthly event too! This is not big name entertainers… it’s more like a glorified, semi-organized, open mic.
